When we founded Belamer four years ago, we knew that we wanted to be a label that we can be proud of, in every step of the way. We built the brand around a strong respect and care for nature and its people, and with the commitment to design and create with minimal environmental impact. We recognize that there is always room for improvement, but we’re dedicated to taking deliberate steps to reduce our ecological footprint.
Planet
Fabrics are a crucial element of our design process, and we take great care in evaluating them. They must not only work well with the intended design (whether it’s beachwear, swimwear, or other items), but also be comfortable, durable, beautiful, and have a low environmental impact.
All of our swimwear is made from regenerated nylon, a high-quality fabric sourced from marine and post-consumer waste. Using recycled fibres helps us reduce our carbon footprint by 80% compared to producing new fabrics. This material is certified by GRS (Global Recycle Standard) and OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, ensuring its environmental integrity and safety.
By choosing recycled nylon, we significantly lower our water and energy consumption. Our latest collection has achieved a 55% reduction in water usage and a 59% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to the industry standard.
For our beachwear and clothing, we use100% linen and 100% cotton, and we are exploring new materials, all certified with OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100. We use deadstock fabrics our small cotton bags, which are included with every order.
We try to reduce the use of plastic as much as possible, that’s why we also package all Belamer orders in cardboard envelopes made locally with 90% recycled paper and 10% FSC paper. Our swimwear hygiene protection labels are compostable, and all other Belamer labels are crafted from 100% recycled cardboard and tracing paper.
People
Belamer was founded by two sisters with a vision to create pieces that empower and celebrate women. Our entire team is made up of women, and each piece we design is crafted to make women feel beautiful and confident. From the very beginning, it was essential for us to infuse this ethos throughout our entire supply chain.
All Belamer creations are ethically and responsibly made in Spain, where we collaborate with talented local seamstresses in Barcelona. We visit our ateliers weekly to maintain open communication and ensure our pieces meet the highest quality standards. By manufacturing locally, we ensure fair working conditions, reduce our carbon footprint, and contribute to strengthening the regional economy, something we are incredibly proud of.
We truly believe in this project.
Thank you so much for making it possible.
