World Oceans Day is celebrated annually on June 8 and aims to raise awareness of the problems confronting our oceans.

“A LARGE PART OF HUMAN LIVELIHOOD COMES FROM THE OCEAN, AND IF WE DON’T TAKE CARE OF IT, WE WILL LOSE THE PLANET."

You may have read that in 2050 there could be more plastic in our oceans than fish or that the equivalent of one garbage truck of plastic is dumped into our oceans every single minute.

We are facing a plastic crisis...

But, where is the plastic coming from?

Around 20% comes from water-based activity like shipping and fishing (such as fishing nets) but 80% comes from sources on land.

At BELAMER we make every effort to limit the use of plastic throughout our supply chain. From design and sampling to the production and shipment of our garments, every step of the process is meticulously planned.

“A WAY TO REDUCE AND REUSE THE WASTE THAT FILLS OUR OCEANS”

All our swimwear is made from regenerated nylon from waste materials such as fishing nets.

By recovering these materials, we not only give them a new life but also reduce our carbon footprint by 80% compared to producing new fabrics.

World Ocean Day is the perfect day to consider what steps we can take to protect our oceans:

REDUCE YOUR SINGLE-USE PLASTIC
We can’t eradicate plastic entirely from our lives but  reduce  the amount of single-use plastic we use (plastic drink bottles, straws, balloons, food packaging etc)

LEAVE NOTHING BEHIND
Whenever you visit a beach it’s so important to take your rubbish with you and recycle it at home.

Even the smallest of actions can help.

SHARE THE OCEAN MESSAGE WITH OTHERS
Sometimes it’s hard for people to understand why they need to protect the ocean when they’ve never seen below the surface. Help guide them.
